The author gives many insights and pointers that do not require any math to understand.. Their website is teachformamerica.org. I was insatiably curious.My nervousness about the possibility of reading something awful, and having to pan the work of a nice guy, was groundless. The book does a nice job of talking about the history, uses, strengths, and weaknesses of building materials. Rowland was also a columnist and the writing is in the poetic hipster lingo of the times - filled with drama and self-deprecating humor. Enjoy.. The designs in the book stretche the normal thoughts in design with the particualr materials. This is (apparently) Gehrman's first book, and if this is her first try, then we have some superb books to look forward to in the future.
