After reading a few of the other reviews, I thought I'd found the "perfect" next-stage bible for my 3 year old daughter. A chance encounter with a patient with no file becomes a turning point in his life when he is suddenly confronted with scenes that both horrify and anger him. Crossing the Bridge is both heart breaking and heart warming. Thus it was good news to have a fifth book in the continuing series (the sixth book is to be released this Fall), but, unfortunately, I found bad news in the actual reading. The back cover claims the book will help you "master the essentials" of Wall Street, and this is only a slight boast - it will introduce you to the fundamentals with brevity and clarity, then point you toward more information in print and on the web. Organized chronologically, the collection of readings is quite easy to read and offers a variety of viewpoints (musicians, interviews, critical essays, reviews, etc.) that highlight major attitudes and trends in jazz history.
